Scoring and Statistics

The current NCAA rule book and the HCBL Guidelines must be in the possession of the home team’s General Manager or scorer at each game.

Standings

The HCBL uses a point system to determine team standings. This system was implemented to avoid protracted extra-inning games. Games tied after nine innings (single game) or seven innings (doubleheader) will play one additional inning; if the game remains tied, the game will end in a draw, and each team will be awarded one point.

  • Wins will be awarded 2 Points.
  • Ties will be awarded 1 Point.
  • Loss – no points awarded.

Scorekeeping

Teams shall assign a scorer for each game. The PointStreak Scoring Program is to be used by each team. The scorer may use a laptop or a scorebook to score the game.  The home team’s scoring is the official “book.” The home team must be submitted to the website within 24 hours of game completion. If the home team fails to submit the game, the visiting team may submit the game for input into the system.

Player statistics, season team leaders, batting stats, pitching stats, etc. will be compiled from the data received from each game. This information will be listed under each team and special categories on the website. At the end of the season, season titles will be based on the following criteria:

Batting Title: Requires at least 2.5 plate appearances per team game played.

Pitching Title: Requires at least 0.6 innings pitched per team game played.
