Pitching Coach Responsibilities

The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) is a premier collegiate summer baseball league located in the scenic Hamptons area of New York. Its members include top collegiate players from around the country. Our league provides a competitive and developmental environment for aspiring athletes to showcase their talent.

As a pitching coach within our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the development and success of our pitchers. This document outlines your key roles and responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of providing quality instruction, promoting player health and safety, and actively engaging with the community through outreach initiatives. By upholding the values of excellence, integrity, and community involvement, you contribute to the overall growth and success of the HCBL.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pitching Instruction:
Provide individualized coaching and instruction to pitchers on proper mechanics, pitch selection, and mental approach to pitching.

Player Development:
Implement training programs to enhance pitchers’ strength, endurance, and overall performance throughout the season.

Game Strategy:
Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop game strategies, including pitching rotations, bullpen management, and in-game adjustments.

Injury Prevention:
Monitor pitchers’ workload and pitch counts to ensure compliance with PitchSmart Guidelines, promoting player health and safety. 

Data Analysis:
Utilize pitching analytics and data to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven coaching decisions.

Communication:
Maintain open communication with pitchers, coaching staff, and team management to ensure alignment on player development goals and strategies.

Scouting and Recruitment:
Assist in scouting and recruiting talented pitchers to join the HCBL, contributing to the league’s ongoing success.

Community Outreach:
Conduct clinics for area youth to promote baseball and provide coaching opportunities.
Volunteer within the community during the season to support local initiatives and engage with fans.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Commit to fostering a positive and supportive environment for pitchers to excel on and off the field.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in pitching techniques, strategies, and technologies to improve coaching methods continuously.
  • Uphold the values and standards of the HCBL, serving as a role model for players and fellow coaches.

SCHEDULE:

The position is part-time and seasonal, with six days a week availability required during the HCBL’s summer season from June to the end of July.

The Pitching Coach is expected to fulfill the abovementioned roles and responsibilities to ensure the success and development of pitchers within the HCBL.
